I am in high school right now and am homeschooling with Abeka Academy curriculum . I was wondering if anyone has been accepted in a college besides Pensacola Christian College? If so, please give what college you were accepted by and what you majored in. Thanks
Hey! I loved using Abeka. I think it helped me out sooo much.
I'm a senior in high school right now and I'm accepted into many schools. Hardvard, Princeton, Yale, Cambridge and etc. You know, schools are actually trying to recruit homeschoolers because they know what kind work dilligence they have. I plan to major in Psychology and PCC doesn't offer that.
Abeka curriculum is accredited in the state of Florida. You should have no issues getting into any college if u r doing the DVD option. of course this is dependent on your transcripts
I have loads of friends who home schooled with Abeka and are now enrolled in University of Toledo, which is a pretty decent school in Ohio.

I need some advice for homeschooling a dyslexic child?
My child was diagnosed with ADD. The public schools actually told me they could not teach her and kept pushing higher doses of medication. Since we've been homeschooling things have vastly improved but we've reached a wall. Some simple things seem to never reach grade level or cannot be grasped despite repetition and various instruction attempts. Looking for an answer I discovered that her ADD symptoms are also Dyslexia symptoms. In fact my whole family has these symptoms and they more closely follow the model for dyslexia than they do ADD. We may have been treating the wrong disorder all along. This so explains why certain teaching methods did not work for teachers or for me. My question is: What now? We are looking into more definite diagnosis. Even the public schools in Kentucky refuse to test for dyslexia and do not view it as a learning disorder. We're already using Time4learning, Spelling City, Brain pop etc to help her bypass some of her issues, but how do we address them?
Thanks in advance for any and all constructive help. Those of you who remember me know we don't have alot of support in our educational endeavors.
www.linguisystems.com has a lot of great material for dyslexia. We use their products often. They have a book called "The Source for Dyslexia" - one of the best books I've EVER read. It really helped me out a lot.
Math U See was the best math program we found for my daughter. It seemed to work well with her dyslexia.
Check around for books addressing the link between add and nutrition. Watch out for sites pushing a particular product, but look for more general research on diet, vitamins, amino acids, etc. Drop me a line for other suggestions along those lines.
Sounds like some backward school system, not being able to read correctly seems like a learning disorder to me.
Can't help alot with learning strategies unfortuantly.
here's a tip I learned when I used to tutor a dyslexic person in school... Use red film (like a clear red report cover) over whatever they're reading.
The person I tutored said that this helped them see the words regular...
something about tricking the part of your brain that responds to written text... If not red try other colors because it may be different for others.
Just lay it over say a text book and just move it over....
now for the adhd part try letting your child study like the girl in legally blonde movie.... movement probably helps it stick...
also if they have physical dyslexica say volleyball/baseball for example have them stand on your feet and move their arms exactly how they need to go for muscle memory
Hope this helps

UK question re CRB checks?
Do I need a CRB check when providing a course for children to do with their parents by correspondence...or with the parents checking the work.
The children are over 8 and under 18.
I will not be teaching the children myself only have provided the work. The course is complementary medicine and botany
Thanks
Very unlikely.
CRB helpline is 0870 90 90 844
Yes, you will probably need to be CRB checked. You may not be in the physical proximity of these children but you will have access to the details where they live & what school they attend - you will have access to data about children that others would consider extremely valuable & you'll also need to ensure that you keep it secured, make sure you keep it in a lockable drawer & away from 'public' areas in your house/work place.
Use the number one of the other posters has provided to find out what you need to do.
i know you need an enhanced check if you are training or coming in contact with children or vulnerable adults. i suppose it depends whether in any part of your role you will have contact, if you do i guess you would need to go thought the crb route

A beka K5 curriculum?
What are some good websites to find new/used a beka books or curriculum sales. I live in the S.C. lowcountry, And would like to go to some local conventions etc.
My favorite place to look for books online (Abeka) is www.homeschoolclassifieds.com. I've found a lot there and the prices are usually pretty good.
Hope you find what you are looking for. I have a 4 year old, so I can't give up my K5 stuff yet! :)

eBay.
And if you can get to one of your state's homeschool conventions (usually in the spring sometime) you can usually find some used curriculum materials.
convention listings:
homeedmag.com
or
homeschooling@gomilpitas.com

Signing up at online homeschooling site? (basically online school duh.)?
Okay, Like they said you need something papers about signing up
(im 14 i wouldnt remeber that okay)
Some papers, but i've bin homeschooled for 7 years. but now i want to sign up at a online school.
But is there any that are free? and you don't need school something papers?????
any legitimate online school is going to need some kind of proof of what you've done, and if it's any good it's probably going to charge as well.
Honey it sounds like you should do something...
i'm 13 and in connections academy i think thats free

Has anyone done online schooling?
I was just wondering if anyone who has taken online college courses liked/likes it? And how did you go about signing up for it/ how time consuming is it? I have a 5 month old but want to get some schooling in.
I have taken an online college course.. they are great for convenience but some professors will require more work, just depends. For me it's not any more time consuming than spending a couple hours in class each week. So its got its good and bad. Little more work for not having to go to class. You'd register for them just like you would any other college course. You can always go see an adviser too to get you registered.

Where would I start in finding a good homeschooling program online?
For a 7th grader. Any info would be great. Thanks
First, you need to understand that cyber (online) schools are public schools and provide a public school education in your home. They have to follow the same rules and laws as your local public school. In most states they are free to the family because they are public schools and taxpayer funded. They are operated by for-profit private companies.
Homeschooling is when a parent chooses or creates a curriculum and educates their child themselves. The family had no connection to the public school, and only has to follow the state's rules and regulations related to homeschooling. The family receives no funding assistance, and accepts all responsibility for the costs and outcome.

I am a self-taught English student. Could you please check the English grammar mistakes I've made in this letter and corrent them? Thank you all in advance.

Hello Mrs xx,
YJ came home and said that she should be tutored. I was happy to hear that because this is her decision. Thanks for counselling Yujin today. She told me that I should tell you her decision because she has changed her mind after you had counselled her today.
I would be very pleased if you arrange for her tutoring. Social Study and English would be picked up for her tutoring, wouldn't they? Please let me know if the subjects would be changed.
YJ prefers to take a tutoring at her school. I will definitely pick her up if I can make it; otherwise, she has to walk home. I hope she will be fine walking late in the afternoon alone. Moreover I hope she won't drop out of the tutoring later.
P.S. 1
YJ is going to have a test from Science class this Friday. I am concerning that she might not understand the English instructions on the test. Would you mind if you ask her science teacher to help her a little with the instructions. I hope science teacher would be fine if she asked questions about some English on the test that she doesn't fully understand.
P.S. 2
I don't see her science teacher's Email address on at her school website. I would like to contact with her teacher by Email if I have some time. One day I asked her if her science teacher has Email address. She said that her teacher doesn't use it. I don't fully understand what that means. It would be very convenient if I knew her teacher's Email address.
I look forward hearing from you,
If I was writing this as a native (English) speaker, I would write it thus:

Dear Mrs xx,
Thanks for counselling Yujin today. She came home from school and told me that the two of you had discussed the possibility of some tutoring. I was happy to hear this because it has been entirely her decision. However she has asked me to contact you because she has changed her mind after speaking with you today.
I would be very pleased if you would arrange the necessary tutoring for Yujin. Social Study and English would be the subjects concerned, wouldn't they? Please let me know if these subjects are changed.

Are the Jumpstart Pc programs for kids any good?
Has anyone purchased the Jumpstart PC programs for their kids?
I used them when I was a child. This was in the 90's, but from what I understand, the programs haven't changed very much. They were wonderful for me. I always had the program intended for children 1 to 2 grades ahead of me. I wasn't learning much or being challenged at all in the regular classroom, so I played these games at home almost every night to get the stimulation I was lacking. They were a lot of fun and taught me a lot of useful things when I was actually ready to learn them and not a year or two later.
Yes, they are one of the ones I recommend. I've used toddler on up and have always been impressed. One thing I like about them is that the level changes either easier or harder without the child really knowing it. So after so many errors or so many correct answers it will change for that specific activity. The children in my care have loved the JumpStart CD's.
I have jumpstart kindergarden, 1st and 2nd grade. They are great! My 7 year old daughter loves them and they have helped improve her math and reading skills. Hope that helps.
I'm 16 and I still play the Jumstart 1st Grade Classic. I love it.

If I am bad at math, which career (and schooling in uni.) would be best for me, more info...?
I've been thinking about becoming an accountant, nurse (practitioner), pharmacist, economics or business related. I'm in grade 11 and have to choose next year's courses. I'm better in courses involving writing (so business I guess?) and suck at math (very much). But, i'm quite shy so I don't think business is very appropriate for me. What do you think? And for interest, I don't really care.
If you are good in the language arts then teaching, law, writing, or editing are all good areas
Accountancy is out. Pharmacist is also out. economics? out.
try marketing or communications.
DITCH DIGGER. IF YOUR SCORES DONT IMPROVE YOU WILL WORK AT FAST FOOD OR BE A DITCH DIGGER THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. NOT TO SCARE YOU JUST SOMTHING TO THINK ABOUT
I don't know i guess criminal justice it ain't so bad

Can I cancel my statement of intent to register (SIR) sent to UC Merced?
I received my acceptance letter to U.C. Merced, and without even THINKING, my parents had me sign the SIR and mailed it the next day to attend Merced. (Sheesh! We have until May 1st still -_-)
But now we are trying to appeal for Berkeley/Davis, and if I get accepted to either one of these schools, what happens now that I already sent in my SIR for Merced?
Is there a way to cancel it? Is there a charge for canceling? We already paid the $100 to submit it too.
Don't worry, you've just lost 100 bucks.. an SIR is a "statement of intent to register, not registering, so, just don't register when the time comes over the summer.

What are the consequences of going to medical school outside of the US if I want to practice IN the US?
Pretty self explanatory question. I would really like to study abroad and I've only got a years left till I finish my bachelors here in the States. I noticed Oxford offers a "Bachelors of Medicine" as do most international schools. How does that compare to the American MD? Also, doing my schooling outside the US, how will that affect my career/ability to get a residency here in the US?
The differences between European and US education and training makes it difficult to transfer from one to the other. You should plan on completing all of your education and training in one system.
There are a couple of European schools that seek US students, but most do not and make it very difficult to get accepted. Although there are some financial aid programs for students accepted into medical schools outside of the US, obtaining the loans is very difficult and essentially, you have to have cosigners that can collateralize the entire loan.
If you do complete all of your education and training in Europe and want to return to the US to practice, you'll still have to complete the US Medical Licensing Exams. The first exam, Step 1, is intensive. If you were trained in Europe, you'd be several years out from studying the material tested in Step 1, which could adversely affect your score. If you don't pass Step 1, you don't get to pass Go or collect your $200. In addition, you'll also have to pass the European country's equivalent of the USMLE (in the UK, it's the PLAB) in order to be licensed. In general, European educated students don't fare well on the USMLE and US educated students don't fare well on the PLAB.
Just as a FYI--it's hard for a US citizen to be accepted into European medical schools for the simple reason that schools like to train people to practice in that country and everybody assumes a US citizen will return to the US to practice. There are exceptions, such as Poznan in Poland. Poznan actually uses the US model of education on the assumption that graduates will go to the US to practice.
If you complete your med school outside of the United States, you will have to take equivalency test to get your license. After you get your license you will have to apply to residency programs.
It will affect a lot. Think and seek advises to the people who can really give you a right advice so that you will have no regret when you come up with your decision.
Getting a license to practice in the US & getting into a top residency program could be a problem.

Which in your opinion is a better college LSU or Texas A
Just trying to gather a little information on both as a Junior in high school looking into colleges. I live in Texas but my dad lives in Louisiana so i'm pretty sure i get instate for both. I've also compiled some pro's and con's of my own.
LSU
Pros: Great football team, stadium, social life
Is becoming a better school from what i've heard, inexpensive
Has a good mass communications program(i'd like to major in either psychology or journalism)
Cons:
Far from home(might not be a bad thing)
Won't know many people there
Texas A&M: Closer to home
Have cousins who go there, would have roommate
cool traditions
Ranked high in US news rankings.
Cons:
I've rooted for the longhorns most my life(not that that matters)
I'm a moderate liberal.
seems almost like a cult type student body
It depends on your attitude. LSU is a better school than Texas A&M, from all I've heard. But if you go into it thinking, "Oh, it's going to be so lonely, and I'll never get over my homesickness," you are probably going to be right. If, on the other hand, you look at college as a new adventure, with opportunities to meet new people and become your own person, rather than clinging to people you knew before, you could have a great experience there. I can tell you that I had two cousins at my college when I went there, and I saw only one of them the whole time I was there, and that one exactly once. Not that your cousins and roommate might not be good people, but this is a chance to branch out and make more friends, not retreat to the familiar. I would definitely give LSU a try.
Texas A&M. has a huge and welcoming student body. and its ranked really high compared to LSU. i mean its very conservative. but you'll def find people who are different and diversity is growing at A&M. that is just my opinion i'm out of state and going to A&M in the fall.
LSU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The school is billing me again and not telling me the reason. Please help?
This question is a part 2 from one I asked a few months ago. In part one, I explained that I unknowingly had to pay the $55.00 just for filling out and signing the online application undergrad form. Fine, I paid them and I thought that was it.
Now they are billing me again and not even telling me WHY. I am having someone help me with this.
Do you know why they could be billing me again? I told them to delete my online application form and leave me alone. I don't even intend on going to that school so why do they keep billing me?
I have asked the school repeatedly why they keep billing me and they never answer. They can't just go around billing people like that?
I have contacted a lawyer to see why the school keeps on harassing me. I really thought that the $55.00 was a one time entrance fee-for filling out the application form.
I have not signed up for any classes, all I did was fill out that one form-part of it. I have not signed up for anything. I haven't even BEEN to that school.
Please anyone reply and let me know what I can do.
sounds SHADY! My school did some similar things to me...stick with the lawyer. If I could afford a lawyer I would have hired one my freshman year. Keep all of the paperwork they send you, keep copies of any forms you filled out for them, as well as any emails or letters that you sent them that say that show that you told them you weren't enrolled, and had no intention of enrolling etc...keep any letters or emails that they send you...KEEP EVERYTHING, and follow through with that lawyer. It may sound extreme, but all of these universities are experiencing deficits and are getting pretty shady with their money dealings these days. I know I sound paranoid, but the money stuff is no joke. If they say that you owe them money, and you don't pay it, they can put a lock on your account with them (even if you say you didn't register with them), they can put a lock on whatever account they claim to have for you that will prevent you from enrolling in other universities. They'll say that you owe them money, and that they're withholding all of your information until you pay it, and you won't be able to register for classes with them until it's paid, and you won't be able to register at other universities because it will show up in your records that you were registered with this first university and they'll want a transcript from that first univeresity, which you won't be able to get for several obvious reasons...so...follow through with that lawyer and don't give up until you get answers.

How do college majors and minors really work?
Okay I'm a Junior in high school and I'm having so much conflict about which colleges to apply to and which one would satisfy my interests. I'm super interested in languages. I'm like a major fan. I would love to travel around the world and learn them. I don't even mind sitting in a classroom and hearing a teacher talk. As long as it's a language it's interesting to me. I really would like to learn Hindi in college. It's been a passion and my grandfather knew how to speak it, but he was deceased before he could teach me anything. I also want to learn to speak French and Spanish which I know aren't the hardest languages to learn so there is no problem there. I want to learn these languages, but I don't see a real job in them, so I really don't want to only pursue that. I thought about Forensic since I'm really interested in that too. Is there a way to like major in Forensic Science or something and also learn these 3 languages?
Okay. I heard colleges like Middlebury in Vermont, Rutgers and Princeton in NJ have really good Hindi programs. I myself speak Hindi and I know that it is very hard to find Hindi Lit in America. My suggestion would be to learn French and Spanish as minors or maybe double major with Foresnic Science and either French or spanish while minoring in the other. Hindi is quite a hard language to learn and I would suggest double majoring in that and Forensic Science since it is very uncommon for a college to offer it as a minor since it's not very common in the USA. Maybe you could double major in Forensic Science and Hindi and leave French and Spanish for a later time since you can learn those easily. I'm also guessing you would want to do this because it is very special to you, since your grandfather is deceased/past away. You really need to look for a college that will let you do what you want to do otherwise it's not the right college for you. I think double majoring in Hindi and Forensic Science is a good idea while minoring in French and/or Spanish is you can manage it. I mean the average person would do 1 major and 1 minor, and this is 2 majors and 2 minors which is double. It's quite alot of work and you would really have to be focused to manage all of these classes. You might just want to consider 1 minor and double major. That's what I would do, because there is always the conflict of your classes bumping in to each other timewise and this to create a problem since you want all of them .
My recommendation is double major in Forensic Science and Hindi and minor in French or Spanish.
Good Luck.
Most schools will let you major and minor in whatever you want as long as the requirements are met and they are not too closely related. I believe it is possible to have a major and a double minor, but not a triple minor. Keep in mind that learning two completely foreign languages at the same time could become confusing over time if they do not complement one another.
If you were to become fluent, there are plenty of opportunities out there for you especially Middle Eastern, Southeast Asian, and Asian languages, not so much Spanish and French.
Speaking multiple languages will be good for you in a lot of careers, and it's just a good skill to have.
You don't necessarily have to minor in all of those languages to learn them. You might minor in one and just take a couple years of the others. You won't come out fluent after two years, but you'll be able to communicate, and from there you could increase your language skills through an internship in a country that speaks that language or auditing more classes from a local college or language institute after graduation.
Very few colleges are going to offer a minor in Hindi or other less commonly taught languages. They will likely offer beginning and intermediate language classes (2 years' worth, usually), but (assuming you're in the U.S.) you're unlikely to find the large selection of advanced language, literature and culture classes that you will find in French and Spanish. That said, if it's important to you, there are probably a few colleges out there who do have more offerings and maybe a minor, so look around. Just make sure that they also offer forensic science if that's what you want to do.
Also: if you take 3-4 years of a language in high school, you will likely test out of at least one year, maybe two, of that language in college, which will save you some time on your way to a minor. That said, language minors sometimes require more advanced classes than some other minors for that very reason.
So if I were you, I'd pick Forensic Science with a minor or second major in French or Spanish--whichever you most want to be fluent in--and take a few classes in the other two. And don't worry about the risk of "mixing up" languages while taking them at the same time. You'll get a little of that, but on the whole, the more languages you know, the easier new ones are to learn, especially if they are similar like Spanish and French, so the benefit of crossover is far greater than the downside.

If you get an 'unconditional' offer then you are guaranteed a place with that university - no matter hwat greades you get.
'Conditional' offers mean that you must get the grades they are asking for.
Unconditional acceptance is where you can have a place there no matter what you get.
With a conditional you have to achieve certain grades to get a place

Almost a full year until I get into nursing school, what can i do in realation to nursing in the mean time?
hey,
I'm just wondering if anyone can help me out. I'm not getting into school until next January, but I don't want that to discourage me. I'm going to school for nursing, so I want to get a job in the meantime that I can do that is related to that. Currently I'm a full time nanny and bartender. I'm thinking I should quit them, and get into something that has to do with hospitals and such. I dont want it to be a waste of time, low paying job, so please keep that in mind too?
If you are thinking about getting a nursing job, you will have to start with a low pay first since you don't seem like you have any experience. The nursing field is very compatitive and most of the time those people who plan on these majors don't think about money first. So I advice you to do volunteer at hospitals, internships and all that, just to give you a little experience and then you can figure out from there. You might get a job, but if you are thinking that getting a low paying job in nursing is a waste of time, then I don't think it is the right major for you.

Anyone else really nervous about ivy league decisions coming out today at 5pm?
Well if I had wanted to go to an Ivy League school then I would be nervous, but since I didn't and I don't I'm not currently. I'm just attending a community college until I get my associates to go to a film school.
Nope. I realized that good grades at ANY school will open doors for me. I think Ivy League schools are overrated in so many aspects...
Yeah. I'm terrified that one of them will choose, maybe even draft me.

What jobs can a college grad who speaks Spanish get?
Graduate from Kentucky (History degree with legal studies minor) and I speak Spanish, can I get a good job? Be specific please! Thanks.
You can find a job as a history teacher in a school anywhere in the country. You will be a valuable asset to any school system because foreign exchange students will have an easier time in class with a teacher who can convey ideas in two different languages. You could also work in a museum working with people from other countries.
Your university probably has a career center and job placement office. I would start there for ideas and advice.

What are some good colleges/jobs?
I relle want to do something w/ fashion, organizing, or magazines. I LOVE math and language arts..so wat r some good jobs for me? also, no any good colleges if i like fashion?
First of all, you had better learn to spell, to write and to correctly express yourself. Based on the writing in your question, you may not get into any college.
from the looks of your spelling.
i suggest community college

What are some of the best jobs, that don't require university?
It depends on what you mean by best. There are many jobs that don't require college that pay very well, but there are reasons you might not like them. Air traffic controllers only need a high school diploma, and the pay can top 100,000 a year, the stress level is also very high. Police officers can start at 60 or 70,000 in big cities, but it can be hazardous of course. Sales is a field where you can make a lot of money and don't need university.
Then there are creative jobs like actor, singer, chef, musician, hairdresser, graphic artist. These jobs can be very fulfilling if you are talented and persistent, but you may need another job to support your art when you start out.
If you are good with technology you can get jobs in video game design without a college degree.
Some hospitals offer their own classes on certain jobs. For instance, Ball Hospital in Muncie had training for xray tech. Now, this has been a few years ago, but its worth looking into. At that time, you took the entrance test. The top 12 or so got into the program. They train you on the job at the hospital. Once you make it through the training you are hired at the hospital. I believe there may have also been a small fee for the program, but nothing compared to college fees.
any trade, maybe construction. a couple different office jobs, like receptionists. or u could open your own business.
My Dad did very well for himself as an electrical lineman.

Obtaining a bachelors in biology. Am I wasting my time?
I'm hearing a lot lately that bio majors who've achieved a bachelors can do little with their degree once they've graduated college. It's concerning me because I've decided to seek a bachelors in biology and specialize in forensics. I'm still a freshman in college, so I'm opened to steer which ever way is more convenient.
Is it true that those who major in this science will have little to do once they graduate?
Thanks for the answers in advance :D
Just for bachelors degree alone will be difficult to find a job these days.
You are NOT wasting your time, but now days job requires you to have at least masters for a decent job.
So, if you are staying in Biology field, stay in school, and pursue masters.
It depends on what job you want..I know a lot of bio degrees get lab tech type work. It's a really good degree if you want to pursue higher education in the future, like nutrition, kinetics, medicine etc. If there is something that is more of interest to you, I'd say go for that but a bio degree isn't a waste :op
Our daughter took a B.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Genetics, from there she took a Masters in Biotechnology. She is currently working as a Product Manager in an international pharmaceutical company, working with HIV meds.
Stay in school, keep researching jobs, the one you will be doing once you are out of school hasn't even been created yet.
See if you can connect with someone that is in the field you want to go into and job shadow them for a few days or weeks.

Graduate Studies in the Study of Television?
I'm am now looking for some kind of graduate program in things I am interested, I am a while away from Graduating college but I figure it's never too early to be prepared. I'm enjoy TV and I suppose you could say I am an overzealous couch potato. I'm not interested in television production, more it's effect on popular culture and how, when people look back on our generation, what we watch and such reflects kind of who we are. I know there are studies in film, which interests me too, but I am more interested in television. I guess what I'm asking is DO YOU KNOW WHAT KIND OF GRADUATE PROGRAM I SHOULD LOOK FOR? cause I don't really know exactly what department this kind of study would fall under. Any kind of help is appreciated.
This is a tougher one because they call these programs all different names, but there are definitely a lot of these programs out there. If you want to see the kind of work you might produce, I suggest looking at the scholarly journal _Studies in Popular Culture_. They have tons of articles like the things you're talking about.
Here are some of the names of these kinds of programs:
Media Studies
Popular Culture
And some schools have these kinds of programs in English or Communication departments as well.
Here's a description of a program from University of Minnesota:
Critical Media Studies
Critical Media Studies approaches mediated communication as a cultural form that is socially influential, economically powerful, and politically significant. Coursework in Critical Media Studies emphasizes qualitative, historical, and critical approaches to the study of media texts, audiences, institutions, policies, and economics. Topics covered in the Critical Media Studies curriculum include feminist media studies, media, race, and identity; political economy of media, audience reception and effects, popular culture, and media regulation and industries. Coursework outside the department is usually in the fields of American studies, cultural studies, political science, sociology, or women's studies.
Hope this gives you a start!

How should change my major at UCSB?
Im an incoming freshmen and i wanted to go ME instead of Psychology.. they said i should send an email request, but should i make it formal like a essay request?
No, an email should be fine. Just tell them you want to switch (perhaps include a brief one or two sentence explanation). Advisers change students' majors all the time. It's just a matter of telling them what to retype in their computer.

Yes, you can still get into a good school. You won't stand out nearly as much as someone who got all A's in honors classes though.
Study hard and long for your SAT or ACT. The higher the score, the better your chances of being accepted.
Absolutely. It may be slightly more difficult, but it is very typical to enter college without taking the Honors path.
Make sure you spell "school" correctly before applying, please.

To all doctors/medical school students, what should I be doing to prepare?
I am currently a Junior in High School and I want to go into medicine. I want to know all that I should expect and things that would be helpful to do to set me a step ahead. I know this is early to be concerned about this, but I would like to be informed of what I should be doing to prepare. It will give me a better perspective into the field that I would like to go into, as well.
What the above poster wrote will be true at many points in your medical career. But you will get the occasional grateful patient; you will get some time to sleep; some people manage both family and work (it's hard but do-able, especially with an involved spouse). You're still in high school so focus on doing well in your classes and getting into a good college. But you can volunteer at the hospital - work in different wards, work in an urban environment and also in the small town office of a family practitioner; try to get a varied view of the profession. Besides that, there's not much you can do to prepare as a high school student. Once you get into college, you can up the volunteering (not only in a hospital but you can work in a free clinic for the poor or homeless). You can shadow doctors. You can work as an EMT (not required; this is a big time commitment and people are divided on whether this is actually helpful in understanding the profession). The best thing I ever did was volunteer in one hospital (lots of different wards) for about 6 yrs (two years in high school, all 4 years of college). I got to know the doctors and nurses really well, so they kept me more involved in patient care. Yes, medicine is a tough profession. It isn't for the faint-hearted. It isn't for the delicate. You will see people at their worst and most vulnerable. You have to be able to handle that. Do a lot of introspection and if you still find (in college) that you can handle all the studying and the lifestyle and you can't imagine yourself in any other career, pursue medicine. Harsh but it's the truth.
You should be prepared to...
-deal with complaining patients 24/7
-work 16 hour shifts
-sleep at school
-study 8 hours a day
-never see your family
-be constantly strung out

How much do college professors make? and what exactly does a dean do?
for salary distributions, I suggest that you look on the Chronicle of Higher Education website, they publish such information.
A dean is usually the head of an academic or other administrative division. They are responsible for all operational aspects of that division.

Can i talk about this in my nhs essay?
I need to "reflect [my] understanding of the requirements and responsibilities of an HS member" (aka Service, Leadership, and Character)
So far, I wrote about how dependent i am, and an example of how i "give my time and effort without compensation." However, I'm not focusing on my 30 volunteering hours/10 leadership hours. Only on myself as a person. Am i writing it wrong?
Your not writing it wrong. But that's the point, you don't need to know if it's wrong or not. trust me, your as right as ever.

Depositing at one college if your on the wait list for another?
if you get put on the wait list at your first choice college and are told you will not hear back from them until after the May 1st deadline are you able to make a deposit at your second choice school so if you don't get in from the wait list you will have a place to go next year?
You definitely can do that and SHOULD do that, colleges are limited their spaces due to the economic breakdown right now. So, it's in your best interest to do so. However, the only thing about deposits is you often do not get them back.
Is it deposit or application fee? Those are two different things. What deposit is it for? Housing or Tuition? There shouldn't be any fees you are to pay but the application fee right now and those you always lose them if you choose not to go or don't get selected.

Emory, University of Rochester, or Tulane?
I%26#039;m not sure about the finances I will receive at UofRochester or Emory yet, and I%26#039;ll hear from Brown tomorrow (don%26#039;t expect an acceptance), and I%26#039;ve got a full ride at Tulane.
Assuming I don%26#039;t have to pay too much more to attend UofR or Emory, should I go there instead? (I%26#039;m interested in business and Emory is top 5 in business undergrad).
Out of the three schools you mentioned (minus Brown) Emory by far out-performs the other two when it comes to academics. I believe it is considered to be one of the %26quot;baby ivies%26quot; and it a great school to go to. Emory has a better and more widely known reputation.
Good luck and congrats on getting in. Good luck with Brown tomorrow (I%26#039;m personally waiting for Cornell tomorrow as well!)
Unless your parents basically have your tuition sitting in the bank or you get a 90%+ scholarship, go to Tulane.
A free ride is a great deal. Tulane and Emory are both great schools. Brown is in another league, but I wouldn%26#039;t expect employers to have a real preference between Tulane and Emory. It isn%26#039;t worth huge loans when you have a free ride on the table.
If money isn%26#039;t an issue, pick the one you prefer.

What is college life really like?
I'm about to go to a small college and would appreciate some tips on how to adjust from high school. I'm unsure if I want to live in a Co-ed hall and I don't know how to get along with a roommate (only child here) help? What was it like for you?
In my opinion college was not to much different from high school. Some major differences is that some professors don't care if you pass or fail. Another is dorm life takes a while to adjust to. The last is that your parents will not be around to take care of you.
You should try co-ed living, for a couple of months . However, you should also keep in mind your other options, just in case that is something you are not comfortable with.
As far as roommates goes, every situation is different.
Some general tips are never be roommates with a friend from high school. Set clear rules, write them out, and sign that you both agree to live by them. For example that you both have to wash dishes together.
When a conflict arises try to settle it on your own, if that doesn't work then talk to your RA.
Also, avoid getting on their case about their small but annoying habits. Other wise you'll have a lot of different roommates.
As I stated before, every situation is different. I've had great roommates, and of course those who were just a pain. Living with someone else, is a great learning experience. The trick is to be patient, and keep an open mind.
I recommend using www.fastwebs.com because it has a lot of information on just about every aspect of college.
College life is quite different from high school life. Here, you are to live, study independently especially now that you will be away from home. You have to adjust with your roommates, you need to arrange your own bed, wash your clothes, clean the room, prepare your foods, etc. You should be able to behave and cooperate with everybody in order to maintain harmonious relationship. You also have to develop good study habit and do lot of researches and reporting for different topics and projects.
defintely live in a co-ed, college is where you make your long life friends, don't worry, everyone else is also nervous just like you, and are worried they won't adjust to college life, but over time, you will be used to college life, just give it a about two months, since everything is new to you, and then later everything is old
College was the best time of my life... I loved it. Don't worry, everyone else will be in the same boat as you.

Tips on being a student and having your first apartment?
Here's the deal, I'm going to be a freshman in college next year, I don't want to live in a dorm, just because I have bad experiences with them (Well, I've heard stories, my sister had some bad things.) So, I want to get my own apartment, I'm going to culinary school, but I'm going out side of state, any tips on how I can be a student and have my apartment? Thanks. :D
first thing you need to fix is your 'normalization routine', which is to approximate your home life where you'll be transferring. that means to be able to buy your own necessities, prepare your own food, deal with your laundry, and readiness for all sorts of contingencies where you'll have no one to run to when you get in trouble or when you get sick. familiarize yourself with the new surroundings so you'll know where everything is like the back of your hand.
second, build relationships where you're moving so you'll have people to count on. but make sure you're able to help them out for little things so you can build mutual trust. you'll need it for serious emergencies.
third, you'll soon realize that you'll have lots of free time when you've mastered the first two above, so line up stuff to do to stay productive & engaged around your new community while making sure you meet your academic targets (grades, bf, peer group, etc) during your brief stay.
good luck
it will be hard...you will have to keep a job to pay the bills because its more than just you apartment rent you will have electric and water bills to pay possibly gas too. if you are under 21 it might be hard to get one it depends on the states laws there. where i live you CAN NOT rent an apartment under 21 without a co-signer,but if you get a roomate it will make it easier on you split the bills and rent down the middle. plus you will still have to buy food toilet paper and anything else you need...it gets pretty expensive start saving now.
Best advice is to have your own space. This will eliminate any self growth and restrains from the other individual. Living with others is very difficult. You have to put up with theinone-sensese. For example;
You could be a pig or a neat freak and they could be the opposite, either way you or they will create a conflict. Two woman in nature cannot live under the same roof due to property control or one getting to controlling. One to comfortable in a guest house could also be a problem. Just get your own place and you will learn to be yourself.
Living with a boyfriend will not let you grow. You have to be yourself, Unless you have a very good BEST FRIEND or TRUSTING relative.
Good Luck!
don't over extend yourself, make sure you can pay all your bills, and you can pay them on time, late fees suck.
good luck.

High School Diploma vs GED?
I know a high school diploma is better than a GED, but I'm 2 years behind school basically. I know nothing is an excuse for that, just these past two years [im a senior] ive been really depressed and also really sick. I was in the hospital for awhile when I was sick in grade 11 so I when got out there was no way I could have gotten the credits due to how much time I've missed. In grade 12 [this year] its different, I've been sick again the doctors don't know what it was, they thought I had the german measles but it wasn't.
Gah Anyways... I'm moving to the states this June. I looked at the University in the town I'll be moving to. It says they DO take students who have a GED.
So I was wondering, should I just get a GED instead of spending about 2 years getting my Diploma?
hollyy
you should definitely get your high school diploma, i know its a pain in the *** but in a few years you will be glad you didn't settle for a GED
Listen Holly, and by no means am I trying to offend you. BUT... I was in your exact position, I was suppose to graduate in 2005 but got my ged because I was two years behing my graduating class. Its the biggest mistake I ever made. I am in college now so I have decided to move forward from my mistakes HOWEVER life entails getting up in the morning and going some where you would rather not be. That will never change and if you can't handle it now ask yourself "will I actually get up for college?"
It is best to called your college of choice about it, since they're the one who know what good or not, asking a quesiton on yahoo answer about it is a very bad gamble..
or go to a community college
dear hooly can you please tell me what is GED

How do the contestants on Jeopardy know such obscure information?
Strict parents who never let their children have a taste of life.
First of all, you don%26#039;t have to know all the answers, only about a third.
Secondly, most of the answers these days have a clue in them, sometimes really obvious. Like %26#039;This 16th century queen of England had the same name as the queen today%26#039;. That%26#039;s an exaggeration, but not much. A lot of questions are like that. %26quot;Who is buried in Grant%26#039;s Tomb%26quot;. 8^)
People who are liberal arts majors learn a wide range of interlocking facts about history, art, music, etc. If you have some knowledge of the subject, you can usually guess right a lot of the time.
I watch Jeopardy and I sometimes get about half the questions right, sometimes about a third.
Watching at home, I get 75%+ of the questions correct. If I studied up on popular categories the way contestants do, I%26#039;d probably be able to get almost all of them correct.
The trick is really reading a lot. You can pick up a lot from books, even fiction.
Either the gameshow people cheat and give out the answers to contestants, the contestants are given hints or studysheets, or there really are smart people out there who study and know just about everything.
most study for months before hand. some contestants mention that they do.

Can I get into a good college?
I'm currently a high school sophomore, and with my sister gone at college and my brother searching, I've been wondering about myself and where I could go.
Some colleges I've found really appealing in particular are Colgate, Bucknell, Colby, and Holy Cross but I'm open to other suggestions too.
I go to a private Jesuit school.
My cumulative GPA so far is 3.75 on a 4.0 scale.
I've been a competitive dancer and had an intense 5 day/week schedule since third grade.
Also involved in Model United Nations.
Haven't taken the SAT or ACT yet since I'm a sophomore but on the PLAN test I was predicted to score a 32 on the ACT.
What do you think? I usually get good honest answers here.
You sound like you're on track. Keep the grades up, and the classes challenging. Pursue the dancing. Thats definitely something that separates you from other applicants. Even go further with it. (Teach kids to dance etc.) Colleges will appreciate your passion and individuality. Keep it up.
UMich
It's known as "The Harvard of the Midwest."
Good Luck
with a 3.75 you better have some rich family

Should I go to college to become a professional photographer?
I'm thinking about going to New Hampshire Institute of Art to get my bachelor's degree in Photography. Do you think it would be worth the time and money? I really like photography and would love to become a professional photographer someday. Do you think it's a good career?
I think in order for people/clients to take you seriously, you should go for your degree in photography. It will be worth you time, and who knows...maybe you can network while in college and establish a broader clientele list.
go for it. anything is a good career as long as you truly enjoy it, and have a passion for it..would definately be worth the time and money.
there are apprenticeships for photography try them.
ya how fun would it be to take pictures for a living think that would be pretty cool

Is university worth the cost?
I want to go to uni to study Mental Health but i keep getting told about all the debts and that. is it worth it in the end? and is it a struggle financially when at uni? x
Yes its a struggle financially at university and yes the student debt is a pain in the *** at the end but honestly it is worth every penny!!!
You will have the time of your life - you dont know wot your missing out on. I know everybody says that but I really can not tell you enough just how much fun you can have not just gettin trashed all the time with parties etc (i mean ok yeah that does happen...alot but thats not the whole part of it) You'll be studying something you actually like (makes a change from school right?) you'll meet LOADS of people that have the same interests as you not to mention all the people that are completely different and bring something different to your life.
Money isn't THAT tight really. As long as your not stupid you'l be fine. All my flat mates have always got loads of food in the cupboard (alot of it is asda smart price or tescos value but at the end of the day its still food isn't it), we go out into town alot (not everyweek but then study gets in the way of that most of the time) and if we dont go into town then there is ALWAYS at least one party/kitchen rave/gathering of some sort that is going on. And lets not forget the independence that you gain. Honestly uni is amazing! never want it to end
xxx
University is defiantly worth it, it sets you up with the right skills and qualifications needed for your chosen career path. Even though sometimes you may not need those qualifications to get the job it defiantly helps to have them under your belt. :)
A university educated individual makes approximately $1 000 000 more over their lifetime than someone without one.
So unless you are planning to pay a million bucks for your schooling, its worth it.
It can be, but its worth it
try for a scholarship or financial aid of some kind, that helps a lot
:)
its worth it if you want the job from it, you have to pay uni fee's back if your earning over 15,000pounds i think it is so if your getting more than that you should be good to pay them back. If you spend all your money on alcohol then yes its probably a struggle if you go steady have fun but still take care with your money you should be fine, Ive never met a rich student put it that way. Unless you know mummy and daddy pay for everything, but you can always get a part time job to help you out.
I'd say its worth doing if that's what you want as a career, if its not the career you wont their is probably a different course that will suite you.

Do I need to send my transcripts to another community college?
I am attending a community college, but I want to switch to another CC because it is much closer to my home, do I have to send my transcripts from the first college to the one I will attend?
Yes you will have to.
If you are under a certain number of credits you will have to send your high school ones as well.
If you tranfer to any school, all those transcripts have to be tranferred over. And if you go to several community colleges or universities, wherever you plan on going, each previous school you attended has to be sent over individually. It's a pain, but they can get you for lying on your academic record if you have attended another CC but it shows on the record they have for you that you haven't.
yes. but let me ask you, why did you attend a further away CC?

If you had the chance to...?
if you had the chance to go to BETTER college for FREE but live at home 5 minutes away....would you do it?
OR would you pay say $15,000 per year for four years to go away to a not as great of a college?
better and free for sure.
i don't even think its a decision worth contemplating.

Should I get my associates or stay where I am and get my bachelors?
Ok, I am currently at Texas Tech University and am majoring in Early Childhood Education, which is a bachelors degree. The thing is, that it is aimed at mainly teaching school age kids, from 4 years old to like 8. I don't want to work with older children, I'd rather work with toddler age kids. Well, I found an associates degree in child development at a junior college (closer to my home town) that is aimed more towards the younger years, birth to age 5. I feel that this would get me where I want to be quicker, plus I wouldn't have to take unnecessary classes that I would if I stayed where I am in my early childhood education degree. I kind of just want to get my associates now that way I can support myself and then maybe eventually go back. To me it seems kind of pointless getting a bachelors when all I really need to have for what I want to do is an associates, which is be a daycare teacher. I know that it is my decision, I would just like to see if people think that this would be a wise decision or not? and whether I should be better off going and getting my bachelors?
There is a big difference between a Daycare Worker and an Elementary Education Teacher. For taking care of children at ages birth to 4, you do not need a Bachelor's degree. You only need a Bachelor's degree if you want to work in the Public School System. If your real goal is to work with small children from birth to 4, then my advice to you is to just get an Associate's degree. You can always get a Bachelor's degree later on in your life.

Is English a good major?
With a minor or double-major in psychology? What can I do with that?
Yes.
It seems like a lot of people who have strong psychology backgrounds and who are also very good writers end up writing successful books or become radio personalities or have successful and interesting careers in Public Relations, marketing, or similar fields. Of course teaching is always an option too.
There are so many professions that have people who are terrible at communicating effectively but those who can write and speak well usually rise to the top, and an English degree can help with that.
A shrink who is terrible at writing or communicating will not be as successful as a brilliant writer. And other professions that are more of a corporate type job such as Public Relations or Marketing can also hire people with a psychology background even if you never took a PR or Marketing class, especially if you are a good writer.
I think it's a good major, especially teamed up with a science-oriented major like psychology, as you suggest.

UCLA? what do you think when someone says they go there?
and why do they get the most applications out of all the universities in the united states? would you wanna go there?
I would say, "Wow. Nice job."
UCLA has a lot of benefits. It is as highly ranked as an Ivy, but it is much, much cheaper. Because it is a UC, a lot of CA residents apply to it along with the rest of the UCs. Out of state students apply because of its quality as well as its location- Los Angeles, CA.
The campus is also beautiful, the school is renowned for its sports teams, and it has a medical center. That means it is great for academics and social life- that's not something every school has.
Hope that helps!
it's very impressive but ucla is a state school so it isn't as prestigious as a comparable private school would be

Word power would you mind typing a sentence containing the word....persevere...?
We persevere in the daily struggle, that is life.
Hello sweetie xxx Right... "Ruby is a complete computer illiterate fool - however, last night she did try to list her playlist. Her PERSEVERance is second to none - she will not give up easily - goddamit" lol xxxxxx
Although the weather forecast is bleak I shall persevere in digging up the garden.
Times are tough but if we persevere we will get through it.
We must persevere with things in life to be happy and sruvive.
If you don't persevere you end up with nothing!
If You can persevere many 'coffee breaks', then You are a strong person....!!
I want to preserve my skin and keep it looking young do you?

I don%26#039;t see any grants.. that%26#039;s what appears in my college account in the financial aid section.. would that be because I clicked yes on loans/workstudy on fafsa.. I didn%26#039;t want any loans or work study, but I clicked yes just in case if the grant was too low then I could use some loans as well...
Why would you say they didn%26#039;t offer me any loans.. here is my fafsa results..
Based on the information we have on record for you, your EFC is 6577. You are not eligible for a Federal Pell Grant but you may be eligible for other aid. Your school will use your EFC to determine your financial aid eligibility for other federal grants, loans, and work study, and possible funding from your state and school.
Your citizenship status has been confirmed by the Department of Homeland Security and you meet the citizenship requirements for federal student aid.
Why would you say this happened, my dad earns less than 54k a year and we are a family of 9, shouldn%26#039;t I have gotten at least a small grant.. I also worked and earned around 10k.. but we still make too little for a family of 9.. how could this have happened?
Help, thank you
Your SAR clearly states that you are NOT eligible for grants. It has nothing to do with being a Perm. Resident as both US citizens and green card holders are equal under FAFSA.
Simply put the the govt thinks your parent make too much for you receive grants.
You can file an appeal with the Fin. Aid office of your school which will require you to submit proof of illness( father) and family size.

Im currently in high school, I want to be a registered nurse?
I got accepted to Loyola University but it costs so much $$ i was thinking what if i go to a community college to get the credits then transfer into a 4 year college?
Go to a community college to get your prerequisites out of they way if you want to go to a university. My cousin went to daley college and became a registered nurse in 2 years but she had a heavy workload and clinicals. She got her masters of nursing science online and it took her about 5 years. You could just take your prerequisites while in high school. There are also some training free or almost free programs that will help you if you are a young mother and or if you are on any type of public assistance. They will train you to become a cna,lpn then help you get into a community college along with college credit. You just need to do some research.

Do more older people go to college at night than in the day?
Yeah, since usually night classes don't start until after 5:00 and most people get off at 5:00.
But I have one older woman in my class from 12:00-12:50 who says that's what time her lunch break is, 12:00 to 1:00, so she can get a class in there and just forget about eating. But I don't know of many people who do that. Apparently she works in an office and they're cool with her leaving for her lunch break 10 minutes early to get to class on time, since it's only twice a week.
afternoon and evening because it fits in their schedule.

Should I study Marketing Management or Information Technology? Which is more marketable or is it the same?
They are both very good majors. The IT degree can place you within a very broad range of IT related positions. Marketing Management is also a very good mix of marketing skills as well as business management. They are also lucrative careers by nature as they are growing fields for these two areas. E.g. IT positions are holding fairly steady even in this economy and even expecting within the next year according to one report. Marketing will always be popular due to clients that need to get their compelling message across to sell their products / services. I recommend that you possibly if you can, try doing a free, short internship in both of the above disciplines and see which one you like more. Usually your gut feeling dictates which one you will pick. They are both very marketable.
Junior Project, topics, which one?
I was thinking about what to write my junior final project... i have came up with this topics...
Air Pollutions
Global Warming
No cell phones in the car "when driving"
which one would be better to write about? or any other ideas topics?
Air pollution - too technical if you want it to be any good
Global Warming - too vague, you'll never make a cohesive argument
Cell phones - the best of these 3 choices, a small enough topic with definite arguments
air pollution or global warming only because then you can put in your views to make it longer and your not really going to get the answer wrong, no matter what you write. so which ever you can talk more about in a knowledgeable way.
I would Choose global warming. Its way interesting and theres alot to talk about in that subject.

What is your strategy to memorise 1000 word essays?
Take it step by step, in as little blocks as you can handle. Make sure each one gets the same amount of attention, but be repepetive, make sure you know a part by heart before moving on, and after the next part, make sure you know everything up until that point. Use visual pointers if that helps, to try and make a 'story' out of it.
How do you pronounce the term
Combination of apathy and atheist.
Is it like "apathy" with an "ist" at the end?
Or is it like a long "a" as in atheist?
Maybe even (uh-PAY-thee-ist)
The third one is good..

How do you know if your child is dyslexic?
What are some signs and symptoms of dyslexia in a 7 year old?
I was dyslexic,I say was because i hardly ever do thing backwards anymore,I would twist numbers like 25 would be 52 but only on paper not when i spoke, or i would make a "E" a "3" its also like when im typing i wll start to type a word and then look at it and it will be like thsi, instead of this,I hope that helps
If you think there is cause for concern than you are probably right. No one knows your child better than you. The doctor can advise you on where he can be tested and diagnosed. Don't wait. At 7 your child needs to have his abilityies or disabilities recognized so he can be taught in a way that is best for him. Good luck.

Two questions, quick answer please..?
How to stars vary in size, composition, temperature, color, mass, and brightness?
Also, why does the parallax method of measuring star distances require observations of a star made six months apart?
Variation in size, brightness, and temperature are dependent on composition. Hydrogen vs. helium composition vs heavier elements control mass and color.
The parallax method requires the distances because it uses geometry to determine the distance in a parallelogram based on the known distance of the size of the earth's orbit at two points based farthest apart the angle of the star in the sky.

Freaking out, help answering a question about an AP class?
Ok, so here's the deal: I fooled around this quarter, getting low test scores from not studying, and I "may" get a D in AP economics.
I'm worried because I really need that credit to graduate, plus I need to keep my GPA up for a scholarship.
Questions:
1. Which matters more, the quarter grade, or the semester grade?
Because if I do get a D this quarter, but an A next quarter....
2. Could the credits I get from the AP exam also count as high school credits? Or is it "only" college credits?
Though one thing is certain: I'm definitely going to be pulling myself up next quarter
Ok you are in high school taking AP Economics.
Taking the AP exam in May does not give you any high school credits. And don't count on it giving you college credits. First you have to score a 4/5 on the test. Then not all colleges accept all AP's for credit. You need to check out the college's web site to see if they even take AP Economics, what score is needed, and credit is offered for it.
At our HS it is the final grade at the end of the semester that is counted for your GPA
talk to your teacher. Ask if you can do any extra credit projects, and if she would allow you to use your ap test as an extra credit or an extra test with the same weight as the previous tests to pull up your score. Be open and willing to work hard, and then do it!

What would you consider a good GPA to graduate with in college if your major and minor are the following?
Bachelor of Science in Mathematics for Business with a concentration in Actuarial Science
Minor in Economics
According to the references I got about this:
minimum of 3.3 GPA.
Doesn't matter what your major or minor are. You want to maintain a 3.0 in college.

Why ain
or should i say (why are yo not rplying to msgs?)
Why are'nt you replying to my messages?
or
Why are you not replying to my messages?
"Ain't" is considered improper grammar... Unless your narrating a character with some kind of Southern Drawl, or intentionally using for that effect, you should avoid using it.
As far as the second option goes, that is even further from proper English. Shorthand/abbreviations are discouraged: "messages" to "msgs".
Both make you sound stupid. Choose the second one, but spell the words right.
Actually, don't send it at all. If the person isn't responding he or she either can't or doesn't want to talk to you and sending another message won't help anything.
ain't is a wrong word gramatically its an english american word that americans use but its gramatically wrong bye.tc
ain't isn't a real word. So no, its not grammatically correct.
you should say why aren't you replying.
are you not english or something?
why are you not replying to my messages?
This is why you should have stayed in school...
It's Why aren't you replying or why are you not replying to my messages.
Why aren't you replying to my messages?
?/div>
Both are wrong it should be " Why aren't you replying to my messages"
Give up grammar, it's beyond you.
Why no reply? would serve your purpose and hopefully not upset anyone.
why aren't you replying...

Are you a stalker?

I need help with a mnemonic device?
the word is guile
The word guile is very vile.
Guile is a library designed to help programmers create flexible applications. Using Guile in an application allows programmers to write plug-ins, or modules (there are many names, but the concept is essentially the same) and users to use them to have an application fit their needs.
Guile is an interpreter for the Scheme programming language, with support for many SRFIs, packaged as a library which can be incorporated into your programs. Your users have full access to the interpreter, so Guile itself can be extended, based on the needs of the user. The result is a scripting language tailored to your application.
Using Guile with your program makes it more usable. Users don't need to learn the plumbing of your application to customize it; they just need to understand Guile, and the access you've provided. They can easily trade and share features by downloading and creating scripts, instead of trading complex patches and recompiling their applications. They don't need to coordinate with you, or anyone else.
A mnemonic helps us to remember how a word is spelt and its meaning, so:
Guile Unspeakable Is Lying Everytime.
Green Underwear is Lucky Emeralds.
it's pronounced like mile

Who
i've just been thiniking lately about some pretty weird stuff .. like who decided to milk a cow?? or who decided to pick a plant and cook then eat the bulb (onion) coz it'll taste nice?? ... or who decided to cook meat?? who decided to ride horses?? who decided to get tobacco and smoke it?? why not lavender?? do you get what i mean?? humans used to be so much moe smarter and inquisitive .. if any one has more examples i'd love to hear them also ..
I once read a book called "Ancient Inventions" It is amazing what people knew and how clever they were. I don't think anyone actually knows the answers to the questions that you have but people have been inventing stuff since Adam and Eve, it is part of our nature to be creative.
We are still very inquisitive, but there are so many people now that we all collectively figured all the practical things out, and now we have lots of scientists and engineers figuring out the complicated stuff which is built on top of all that knowledge.
There is a tipping point were humans aquire enough knowledge about a particuar thing - then they start using everything they have learned, without really exlporing much further. At some point you have to pass all that knowledge down to the next generation, so its easier to keep it simple. Until the next big discovery comes along which is easy for everyone to access.
so agree..
even like reading and writing...all these things, like who really decided them?...and i so agree...people back then must have been a little more creative to figure these things out..of cource it took a long time for it to happen
Wow your deep :D

Writing a Master Thesis about destructive cults: What would be interesting questions to ask?
I'm doing it with an emphasis on the People's Temple. I'm doing it as a plain text study due to different reasons, but what would be interesting points of view, questions to ask or books or articles to read?
You could write about Christianity. It originated as a illegal cult. As far as destructive, I believe more people have been killed "in the name of god" than any other group, person, or entity.

What are some pros and cons of starting a club in high school?
Well I'm in my freshman year and I intend on starting a poetry club next year (sophmore year). Or restarting it because it used to be a club at my school, but then all of the seniors that were in it graduated or something. So I want to start up the club again and maybe renovate it I guess you could say. Like I have a lot of ideas, but I was just wondering how this would look on a college application or something.
Anything helps, but no rude answers please. Thank you.
it should do for you all that you mentioned; the college app, the fear of speaking publicly, everything....with colleges, they like to know what extracurricular activities you participated in. ..it's always a plus to belong to a school club, it's a triple plus if you're the one who founded the club.
as the founder, your position of leadership will force speaking as a habit and duty, with your members and with the public. it's much easier to speak publicly when you already have something to say that you feel is important to you, and therefore, important to get out to others to hear.
Well PROS would be ..YOU STARTED THE CLUB....... also if it was successful it could be something to add on your college resume...... . CONS would be no one would join and you would have wasted some time and look stupid. But i would do it because the PROS out way the CONS to me.

AP credit and College Pre med?
ok i am a sophomore in high school and want to follow the pre-med program in college and was wondering whether it was wise to use AP credit earned in high school to skip basic classes like biology chemistry etc. in college or should i just take them again .
I would suggest you take them again. I am about to go into college and I have quite a bit of AP credit, but I am not able to use all of it (especially science and math) because of the Med School requirements. Med School's have their own requirements - you can't use AP credit to skip out on the Med School prerequisites. Also, your major will matter. I am majoring in Biomedical Engineering, so I can't really get out of any math classes.
To summarize, you should talk to an academic advisor. See what the Med School prerequisites are and how they line up with your major. If you're majoring in a science (and planning to go on to Med School), you probably will not be able to use any AP credit from science courses.
Hey there, I am also a sophomore in high school! I think you should take AP science classes. They will save you a lot of money and will look good on your record. I'm taking AP Bio, you should too. This should give you a headstart on your college classes. Good luck to you :) x
I say don't use them. Skip like the labs and 1 credit courses but not the lectures. It should mostly be review for you and you can grab the A. THen you can have a solid GPA.
AP credits are better

Should I be stressed out about the ACT?
I'm already nervous about it. I have to take it on April 4th.
I'll tell you my situation, and then let you judge whether I should be anxious or not:
I am with a Bright Futures scholarship (in Florida) and plan to go to a TECHNICAL school, not a college. Bright Futures said they would pay for my technical school if I took the ACT or SAT. I am taking the ACT, and the passing score for the scholarship to give me money is 20. In other words, I am mainly taking the ACT for money.
Should I be stressed?
Should be be stressed?
No!
Because stress doesn't help.
But it's for money, so you should work for it.
Do some practice tests.
Once you're pretty sure you can get the 20, you probably won't be stressed anymore.

Tips on good memorizing strategies...?
I need to memorize 78 lines of Romeo and Juliet (the balcony scene, Juliet's part). I need help on ways to memorize this to make it easier for me. Thanks!!
After you study the lines carefully for 15 minutes, no longer, sit down and write out the speech, leaving dashes for any you forget. Use this little quiz to help you memorize the remainder. Since there is an inherent logic to most scenes, or long speeches, figuring out why you missed what you did will help you learn the whole. After you get tired of it, PUT IT AWAY until just before you go to bed. Then give it a good look over and sleep on it. ALSO, with Shakespeare, say it aloud. There is a natural music to the speech that will help you learn it. Also, in any scene, concentrate on both parts of the dialogue... because it's the key to the logic of the scene. (When somebody's retelling gossip, you always want to know..."and then, what did SHE say to THAT?") Shakespeare is called a genius for a reason... trust him, and it'll be easier than you think.
Everything that Skip 9023 says is absolutely correct, but I would add that it helps if you know what you are saying. Get help with the words you do not recognize and understand. (The school librarian may have a dictionary of early English words and phrases, or the teacher may help you translate. Don't be afraid to tell the teacher that you do not understand something. It's his or her JOB to help you understand, and most teachers love helping their students.) Once you know what is being said, it is easier to follow the logic of the conversation.
