Tips on being a student and having your first apartment?

Here's the deal, I'm going to be a freshman in college next year, I don't want to live in a dorm, just because I have bad experiences with them (Well, I've heard stories, my sister had some bad things.) So, I want to get my own apartment, I'm going to culinary school, but I'm going out side of state, any tips on how I can be a student and have my apartment? Thanks. :D

first thing you need to fix is your 'normalization routine', which is to approximate your home life where you'll be transferring. that means to be able to buy your own necessities, prepare your own food, deal with your laundry, and readiness for all sorts of contingencies where you'll have no one to run to when you get in trouble or when you get sick. familiarize yourself with the new surroundings so you'll know where everything is like the back of your hand.

second, build relationships where you're moving so you'll have people to count on. but make sure you're able to help them out for little things so you can build mutual trust. you'll need it for serious emergencies.

third, you'll soon realize that you'll have lots of free time when you've mastered the first two above, so line up stuff to do to stay productive & engaged around your new community while making sure you meet your academic targets (grades, bf, peer group, etc) during your brief stay.

good luck

it will be hard...you will have to keep a job to pay the bills because its more than just you apartment rent you will have electric and water bills to pay possibly gas too. if you are under 21 it might be hard to get one it depends on the states laws there. where i live you CAN NOT rent an apartment under 21 without a co-signer,but if you get a roomate it will make it easier on you split the bills and rent down the middle. plus you will still have to buy food toilet paper and anything else you need...it gets pretty expensive start saving now.

Best advice is to have your own space. This will eliminate any self growth and restrains from the other individual. Living with others is very difficult. You have to put up with theinone-sensese. For example;

You could be a pig or a neat freak and they could be the opposite, either way you or they will create a conflict. Two woman in nature cannot live under the same roof due to property control or one getting to controlling. One to comfortable in a guest house could also be a problem. Just get your own place and you will learn to be yourself.

Living with a boyfriend will not let you grow. You have to be yourself, Unless you have a very good BEST FRIEND or TRUSTING relative.

Good Luck!

don't over extend yourself, make sure you can pay all your bills, and you can pay them on time, late fees suck.

good luck.
